Norman

Norman ASA, a leading innovator of proactive solutions for protection against malicious software, announced today the release of Norman Network Protection (NNP) - a new generation high-performance security gateway to protect organizations infrastructure in real-time against known and unknown malware attacks. As the first anti-malware gateway in the world, NNP includes a detailed analysis of new and unknown malware, like viruses, worms, trojans and spyware.
Today, any port and any protocol can be used to inject malware into the network, and tunnelling of network traffic may circumvent firewall technology. In addition, HTTP (web traffic) has become the universal transport protocol with traffic flowing freely through the main gateway. This, together with mobile computing and an increasingly sophisticated communication technology, challenges the fortress-style single point of entry as network defense. The single point of entry can therefore no longer be classified as secure.
NNP’s multiprotocol support detects and protects against malicious network traffic stopping known and unknown viruses, worms, trojans and spyware without sacrificing performance. In real-time it scans CIFS and SMB, the widely used Windows protocols, and HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, RPC, TFTP and IRC, positioning NNP among the most sophisticated anti-malware scanners available.
